Hot Browns

INGREDIENTS
  • 1 pkg. Sister Schubert’s® Yeast Dinner Rolls
  • 1-1/2 tbsp Butter
  • 4 tbsp All-purpose flour
  • 2 cups Milk
  • 1 cup + 1/2 cup Sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 1/4 tsp Cayenne pepper
  • 1/8 tsp Garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp Sherry (optional)
  • 20 slices Turkey breast
  • 20 slices tomato
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • 20 slices Bacon, cooked crispy and broke to half pieces
  • Parsley
Preparation

Prepare Sister Schubert’s® Yeast Dinner Rolls according to package directions and split into half pieces.

Meanwhile, in a small saucepan, melt butter and whisk in flour; cook over low heat for 1 minute. Slowly add milk and continue to whisk until sauce thickens. Cook on low an additional 8 to 10 minutes, stirring frequently. Remove pan from heat and add 1 cup shredded cheese, salt, cayenne pepper, garlic powered and sherry. Stir until all ingredients are incorporated. Return to heat, stirring for 2 minutes.

Position oven rack one level above middle position. Preheat oven to broil.

Arrange Sister Schubert’s® Yeast Dinner Rolls, cut side up, on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil. Top each roll with a little of the prepared cheddar cheese sauce. Layer each roll with turkey, tomato slices and sprinkle with black pepper. Spoon remaining cheese sauce over each roll. Top with 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese. Watching entire time, broil 2 to 3 minutes or until lightly browned. Top each with bacon slices and parsley.
