INGREDIENTS
- 1-1/2 lbs Marzetti Frozen Pasta® Orzo
- 1 lb Lean ground beef
- 1 lb Italian sausage
- 2 tbsp Extra virgin olive oil
- 1 tbsp Fresh garlic, minced
- 1 large Onion, chopped
- 1 each Green, red and yellow bell pepper, chopped
- 2 quarts Chicken or beef broth
- 1 (28 oz) can Italian style diced tomatoes
- 1 (14 oz) an Crushed tomatoes
- 2 lbs Fresh basil, chopped
- Parmesan cheese, shredded
In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook ground beef and sausage until browned; drain well. Meanwhile, in a large pot, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add garlic, onion and pepper; sauté 5 minutes or until vegetables are crisp-tender. Add cooked meat, broth and tomatoes to pepper mixture. Simmer until heated through, stirring occasionally. Add Marzetti Frozen Pasta® Orzo and basil; stir well. Simmer 5 minutes. Top each serving with shredded Parmesan cheese, if desired.
