Stretching Your Egg Dollar by Scrambling

September 7, 2015

Smoked Salmon with Egg

The time is now to take the unorthodox path when preparing scrambled eggs. This old time favorite has become a hit on burgers, rice, and sandwiches! As a top trend this year, scrambled eggs are making a comeback, and not just for breakfast. With egg prices at an all-time high due to bird-flu concerns, scrambled eggs provide an easy outlet to beef up your eggs with veggies, cheese and just about anything your heart desires.

Keep your eggs a hot topic by adding marshmallows – yes, marshmallows – for a sweet treat. Peter Pham, writer for FoodBeast discusses this fast rising trend out of Japan.  The recipe is simple and easy going on the budget, only calling for eggs, marshmallows, oil, dashi, and soy sauce. Make it an omelet or scrambled, this will definitely catch your guest’s eye. Also, Nation’s Restaurant News looks to Bobby Flay’s New York restaurant, Gato for inspiration, suggesting almond romesco, boucheron cheese, and confit toast as an entrée with scrambled eggs.

Scrambled eggs also pair phenomenally with rice! A delectable side, or a base for protein, mixing these two ingredients creates an energy boosting foundation to any meal.

Not only does it pair well with rice, scrambled eggs also works well as a topping on a burger or as a substitute for a burger itself (shown). Scrambled eggs know no boundaries and open the door for creativity amongst chefs and a world of flavor for customers.
